Review & Decision

Visa applications are assessed by the Department of Home Affairs based on the specific subclass criteria. If a visa is refused, applicants may be eligible to seek a review of the decision through the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT). Final decisions rest with the Department of Home Affairs.

Visa Application Stage – "Review & Decision"

If your application status says “REVIEW & DECISION” (especially on ImmiAccount), it usually means:

  • Your application has been assessed by a case officer.

  • It is now in the final stage, where a decision is being made.

  • This status comes just before either a visa grant or refusal.

      Possible outcomes next:

  • Visa granted – you’ll receive a grant notification.

  • Visa refused – you’ll receive a refusal letter outlining reasons and any rights for review.

What You Can Do During This Stage:

  • Ensure your contact details are up to date in your ImmiAccount or with the AAT.

  • Check your email regularly for requests or the final decision.

  • If you’re unsure, contact your migration agent or lawyer for clarity.
