Review & Decision

Visa applications are assessed by the Department of Home Affairs based on the specific subclass criteria. Applicants may be required to provide biometrics, health checks, character assessments, and supporting documents. Processing times vary by visa type. If a visa is refused, applicants may be eligible to seek a review of the decision through the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT). Final decisions rest with the Department of Home Affairs.

Visa Application Stage – "Review & Decision"

If your application status says “REVIEW & DECISION” (especially on ImmiAccount), it usually means:

  • Your application has been assessed by a case officer.

  • It is now in the final stage, where a decision is being made.

  • This status comes just before either a visa grant or refusal.

      Possible outcomes next:

  • Visa granted – you’ll receive a grant notification.

  • Visa refused – you’ll receive a refusal letter outlining reasons and any rights for review.

What You Can Do During This Stage:

  • Ensure your contact details are up to date in your ImmiAccount or with the AAT.

  • Check your email regularly for requests or the final decision.

  • If you’re unsure, contact your migration agent or lawyer for clarity.
